We know the score - Coochie has a growing, aging population with very few on-island health services. A doctor here even once a week would be a great help and convenience for many people, and a suitable space would also serve for other visiting health services.
To make this happen we need parking, a well appointed consulting room, a waiting area, and access to amenities. We've looked under a lot of rocks to find a space but are still not over the line.
There is a practical and simple proposal from RCC officers, which is that we occupy the two rooms off the walkway in the Surf Lifesaving Club plus some internal space with access to toilets. This is a great solution however we need co-operation from another department...
...IF... a trailer and boat currently inside SLSC can be stored in the green council shed opposite Fire Services then very quickly we can fit out the space, and whistle in Victoria Point Surgery to provide a GP.
We absolutely need this facility to enable a raft of improvements to health services. The Health Hub is contacting all levels of council, health services, state and federal representatives to progress this key issue, and you will certainly know about it once we succeed.
