Coochie now has access to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). Not via seaplane... but via telehealth consultations 24/7, bulk billed, with access to prescription medicine on island.

- If you are in an emergency call 000 as usual
- If you need medical attention call the RFDS number 1300 697 337 any time
- If needed, the RFDS medical clinican will prescribe items from the chest - make sure to record these details.
- Call the Coochie medical chest number to have one of our team get the prescriptions to you.
YES you can call 000 AND the RFDS number if needed
NO you can't pretend to have a prescription, we will check back with RFDS every time :)

Coochie is remote enough to qualify for Royal Flying Doctor Service, which will give all islanders the option of calling RFDS any time of day or night for a telehealth session with an emergency physician.
Due to our remoteness and the lack of medical services available on the island, we have qualified for a Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) medical chest.
The RFDS medical chest provides those on the island the opportunity to be treated for a range of medical conditions, including antibiotics for infections, pain relief prior to medical evacuation and more. Through this program, residents will be able to speak directly to a RFDS medical officer who will prescribe medication from the chest should it be required.
Please note – this does not replace emergency services, and should you be in an emergency, please continue to call 000.
The RFDS service will remain available to the island even in the case we have a doctor visiting one or two days per week.
