Aged Care

Obtaining a package

The federal government offers financial help to older Australians in need of support, in the form of a tailored Hone Care Package coming as a daily stipend. DON'T WAIT... this can take a while:

  1.  Assessment stage (can take up to 4 months)
  2. Funding stage (can take up to 15 months before funds are available)

Accessing this government help is a complex process involving

  • government assessment
  • identifying your service provider
  • choosing whether to self manage or have a care co-ordinator help you
  • bringing in support aids and workers in consultation with care co-ordinator and service provider.
  • managing the daily stipend and all services required.

On Coochiemudlo Island it is now possible to...

  • get help identifying who should be on your team, and working through the assessment process (Tina Farrimond, 0408 502 474)
  • get help from family or friends to start the process direct with MyAgedCare
  • Trilogy service provider or Jaime Gault (0499 780 606) may be able to help in contacting MyAgedCare however neither Trilogy nor Jaime receive any financial incentive doing so.

Trilogy's primary goal is to empower the community to explore all available options when considering the management of their Home Care Package.

On Coochiemudlo Island, if you choose Trilogy as your service provider, you can decide to either self manage (less fees, but more work) or have Jaime Gault (0499 780 606) as your on-island care co-ordinator (more fees, but less work).

Those self-managing can approach Paul Tuxworth (0447 009 252) to help identify suitable local care workers; or if opting for care co-ordinating, Jaime will be able to source appropriate workers for you.
